Brian Gillogly Honored by IHSBCA

Luther College Head Coach of Baseball Brian Gillogly, was honored by the Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association at its 40th annual awards banquet held Feb. 2, at the Crowne Plaza Five Seasons Hotel in Cedar Rapids.
Gillogly was named the Four-Year College Coach of the Year. Gillogly was a finalist for this prestigious award along with the University of Iowa’s Head Baseball Coach Jack Dahm.
During the 2007 campaign, Coach Gillogly led Luther to a record of 18-5 and its 12th Iowa Conference championship, first since 1985. The Norse went on to claim their first IIAC post-season tournament title, earning a trip to the NCAA Division III National Tournament, its fourth in school history. Luther’s fourth trip to the national tournament was also its first since 1985. Luther completed the record setting year with an overall record of 31-11 and ranked 16th in the nation.
During his six years at the helm of the Norse program, his teams have set 44 individual and team records en route to a record of 123-106, that includes back-to-back 20-win seasons in 2004 and 2005. Last year’s 31 wins was a single season school record.
In 18 years as a head coach, he has accumulated a career record of 459-292-2. He has led teams to two regional tournaments, three district/state championships and in 1993 he led Marion College to a seventh place finish at the 1993 NAIA World Series.
