Norse - Spartans Split in Dubuque

Luther and the University of Dubuque split the first two games of their three-game series this afternoon in Dubuque. The Norse won game one 13-2 and the Spartans won the nightcap 7-6.
Jeff Riddle and Matt Bruhn were both 2-for-3 and Alex Ross drove in two runs in game one. The Norse tallied 11 hits scoring twice in the third, four in the fifth, six in the sixth and one in the seventh.
Adam Kohls went the distance on the mound en route to his fourth win against one loss. He allowed one earned run on three hits, walked three and struck out seven.
In the nightcap, Dubuque scored three runs in the bottom half of the fifth to secure the come-from-behind victory. Luther held a 6-4 lead when Dubuque exploded for its largest run total for a single frame the entire afternoon.
Jake Waddle, Jeff Hiatt and Bruhn all tallied multiple hits. Waddle was credited with two rbi that included a solo home run to lead-off the fourth.
The two teams will complete the three-game series tomorrow with a nine inning game that will begin at 1:00 p.m.
