Norse One Step Closer To Making IIAC Tournament

In a key match-up between two teams battling to make the six-team Iowa Conference Tournament, Luther defeated Loras 4-3 in Dubuque this evening. The win wrapped up the three-game series that was started on April 22 with a double header in Decorah. The Norse won the series 2-1.
Alex Ross provided a two-run single in the fifth inning in what proved to be the game winning hit, giving the Norse a 4-0 lead. One inning earlier, Ben Schott and Zack Topping gave the Norse a 2-0 advantage as both provided one-run singles.
Loras made the night interesting by scoring once in the eighth and twice in the ninth. Alex Thomas ran down a hard-hit fly ball to center field to end the game and the Duhawks ninth inning rally.
Nate Todd (2-3) pitched 8 1/3 innings en route to the victory. Adam Kohls was credited with the save.
The victory gives the Norse an Iowa Conference record of 9-9, 15-15 overall. Loras fell to 9-11 in league action, 16-20 overall.
The Norse will wrap up the regular season schedule with a three-game home stand against Cornell College this Friday and Saturday. Friday's nine inning game will begin at 3:00 p.m. The double header on Saturday is schedule to begin at 1:00 p.m.
