Luther Posts First Conference Victory - Defeats Central 58-52 in Pella

After trailing 31-23 at halftime, Luther outscored Central 35-21 in the second half en route to a 58-52 victory. The Norse defense turn things around in the second half and held the Dutch offensive attack to just 24% after connecting on 52% of their attempts in the first frame. Seven free throws by the Norse in the final 1:42 secured the first conference win of the year.
Dan Borchers led a trio of double digit scorers with 13 points. Austin Bildstein and Jake Waddle were both credited with 12. Zac Ruckebeil tallied eight points and led the team with 10 rebounds. Waddle, who made four crucial free throws down the stretch, also dished out a team high five assists.
Central was led by Miguel Ley and Keith Pedersen who tallied 16 and 12 points respectively.
The win gives Luther an Iowa Conference mark of 1-3, 5-7 overall. Central is also 1-3 in the IIAC, 8-3 overall.
The Norse will return to action one week from tonight when they will host the University of Dubuque. This game will begin at 8:00 p.m.
