Nationally Ranked Whitewater Defeats Luther

Nationally ranked UW-Whitewater ran its string of consecutive victories to four, defeating the Norse 68-55 here in the Regents Center.
Whitewater, ranked #4 in the NCAA III by d3hoops.com, trailed the Norse 18-13 with eight minutes remaining in the first half. The Warhawks produced a 19-6 run to take the lead for good and close the half leading 32-24.
In the second stanza, Luther battled back to within five (45-40), but it was as close as the Norse would get the remainder of the evening. A 23-10 run by Whitewater down the stretch increased their lead to 18 with just 55 ticks left on the clock.
Whitewater connected on 53.8% (28-52) of its attempts that included a 6-of-9 performance from behind the three-point line.
The Warhawks guard duo of Myles McKay and Matt Goodwin led all scorers with 19 and 16 points respectively. Both players knocked down two three-pointers, as did Cory Brezovar who ended the game with eight points.
Zac Ruckebeil led the Norse with nine points and eight rebounds. Nnamdi Okolue tallied eight points, followed by Jake Waddle with seven and Shane Daniels with six.
The Norse shot 39.1% from the field, but were an impressive 7-of-10 from behind the arch.
The loss drops Luther's overall record to 6-14, while UW-Whitewater increased its season mark to 17-3.
The Norse will return to Iowa Conference action on Saturday when they will host Simpson College at 4:00 p.m. This game will be video web cast.
