Norse Drop 56-60 Decision to Knights in Waverly

Luther and Wartburg battled toe-to-toe tonight in Waverly, but when the dust settled, Wartburg posted a 60-56 victory.
Logan Prochaska gave the Norse their final lead of the contest (56-55) connecting on two free throws with 2:40 left on the clock. The very next trip down the floor, Wartburg took the lead for good (57-56) thanks to a Cashes Mason lay-up. Mason followed his game winner with three free throws in the final seconds to seal the deal for the Knights.
Zac Ruckebeil led a balanced Norse attack with nine points. Jake Waddle (8), Shane Daniel (8), Austin Bildstein (7), Ryan Kuhn (7) and Prochaska (7) completed the list of top point producers. Ruckebeil also collected a game high 12 rebounds.
Wartburg was led by the trio of John Schutte, Mason and Brad Schmidt. Schutte tallied a game high 16 points, while Mason and Schmidt were credited with 14 and 10 points respectively.
The loss drops Luther's Iowa Conference record to 1-6, 5-10 overall. Wartburg moves to 3-4 in league play, 6-10 overall.
Luther returns to action on Wednesday, Jan. 23 when it will host Loras College. This game is scheduled to begin at 8:00 p.m.
