Luther 9th at Jim Drews Invite

A total of 25 teams participated in the Jim Drews Invitational hosted by the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse this afternoon. The field of 410 runners raced on the Maple Grove Country Club in West Salem, Wis.
Luther tallied a team point total of 237 and finished ninth. The Norse finished behind Iowa Conference rival Wartburg College that was eighth with 185.
Six nationally ranked Division III schools were in the field led by #3 La Crosse that won the team championship with 75 points. The Eagles finished ahead of Iowa Central (84), #8 UW-Platteville (112) and #7 St. John's (114).
Luther's top finisher was 2006 All-American Matt Busche. Busche crossed the finish line 16th with a time of 25:55. He was followed by teammates David McKay (21st - 26:03), Carson Bruns (60th - 26:57), Mike Switzer (67th - 27:06), Erik Johnson (73rd - 27:13), John Franzen (74th - 27:16) and Trevor Ruwitch (79th - 27:22).
The Norse will be off until Oct. 27, when they will travel to Dubuque for the Iowa Conference Championships that will be hosted by Loras College.
