Luther claims fourth consecutive iowa conference title

The Luther men's cross country team placed all seven runners in the top-15 they ran to a four consecutive Iowa Conference championship this afternoon at the Max Championship Cross Country Course in Waverly, Iowa.

The Norse used five top-10 performances to score 28 points and run away with their 31st men’s title overall. Coe (53) and Cornell (84) posted their best-ever finishes at the IIAC Championships by placing second and third, respectively. Wartburg was fourth with 99 points.

All seven runners earned all-conference honors by placing in the top-15 individually. Erik Johnson became a three-time all-conference performer, while Kyle Buck, Drew Burmahl, Shane Steele and Jordan Lang all earned this honor for a second time. Karl Larson and Austin Tegels became first-time all-conference performers.

Head Coach Steve Pasche was named the 2009 Coach of the Year. This is the fourth consecutive year he has been honored.

The Norse will return to action on Saturday, Nov. 14, when they will travel to Grinnell College for the NCAA III Central Regional. The men's race will begin at Noon.
