Luther places 8th at uw-eau claire invitational

The Luther College cross country team ran well at the UW-Eau Claire Invitational. The 8k race was run on the Whitetail Golf Course located in Colfax, Wis.
The Norse placed 8th in a field that consisted of 18 teams, despite resting there top 12 returning upperclassmen who ran at the Roy Griak Invitational on Sept. 26.
Eau Claire won the team title with 46 points, followed by St. Thomas with 50 points and UW-River Falls with 88. Luther, the only Iowa Conference school in the field, tallied 212 points.
Individually, Luther’s top five were all freshman, led by Marty Mitchell, who crossed the finish line in 25th place with a time of 26:57. He was followed by Evan Neubauer (42nd, 27:18), Brock Laue (47th, 27:26), Alex Rigdon (48th, 27:27), and Matt Rubins (50th, 27:27). Sophomore Joel Dotseth (61st, 27:43) and senior Josh Gerber (75th, 28:09) completed Luther's top seven. Two hundred and seventy runners participated in the race.
The Norse will return to action on Saturday, Oct. 10 when they travel to St. Paul, Minn., for the St. Kate’s Invitational. The men’s race will take place at Noon.
