Norse Roll to 58-7 Victory Over Waldorf

Luther racked up 572 yards of total offense as it rolled to an easy 58-7 victory over Waldorf College this afternoon here in Carlson Stadium. The Norse scored 58 unanswered points before Waldorf was able to reach the end zone for the first time with 11:08 remaining in the game.
Tyler Sherden took the opening snap of the first half and broke loose for a 55-yard touchdown and completed his afternoon with 185 yards on 16 carries. This touchdown was his second of the afternoon. With his 185 yards, he went over the 1,000-yard mark and will enter next week's game at Coe College with 1,018.
Quarterback Justin Feldt had his best day in a Norse uniform. Feldt threw for 217 yards and three touchdowns. Two of the his TD passes went to Tony Brantner, the first a 23-yard strike, for Luther's first touchdown and again on a three-yard pass with 5:37 remaining in the first quarter. Brantner finished the afternoon with four catches for 68 yards.
Feldt's final touchdown toss of the afternoon was to Jesse Kent for 46 yards early in the second stanza. Kent's touchdown reception was his first in a Norse uniform. He led the receiving corp with four catches for 75 yards.
Defensively, the Norse held Waldorf to 196 yards in total offense, the majority of this coming after defensive coordinator Dan Marlow gave his younger players an opportunity to get some varsity experience. Waldorf tallied just 98 yards of total offense in the first half against the first string defensive unit.
The win was the fourth in a row for the Norse and increased their overall record to 4-3. Waldorf fell to 1-7.
Next week, Luther will return to IIAC action at Coe College. Coe (2-3, 4-3) lost its third game in a row this afternoon, losing 27-3 to Wartburg in Waverly. Kick-off is slated for 1:00 p.m.
