Norse Finish 13th at BVU Invite

With the first 36-holes of the 2008 Iowa Conference Championships just around the corner, Head Coach Scott Fjelstul took five players to the two-day Buena Vista Invitational. These five individuals were not only playing against the 17-team field, but also attempting to earn a roster spot for the five-man Norse varsity squad that will compete during the 72-hole IIAC Championships.
Winona State University transfer Ross Jacobucci made a loud statement, posting a top-10 finish during the weekend. Jacobucci shot rounds of 79-71 for a six over par 150 and finished in a tie for eighth from the field of 89 golfers.
Completing the Norse squad and how they finished included Alex Gaudian (t61st - 87-80-167), J. Scott Harrison (t63rd - 87-81-168), Andrew Odean (t66th - 86-83-169), and Jake Jurgensen (78th - 93-88-181).
The teams played the first 18-holes on the par 72, 6,853 yard Spencer Golf and Country Club and concluded the tournament with 18-holes at the par 72, 6,708 yard Lake Creek Country Club.
Central College won the team title with a two-round total of 586. Nebraska Wesleyan was second at 598 and Iowa Lakes Community College was third at 616. Luther finished 13th shooting 339 on day one and 315 on day two for a total of 654.
The Norse will have one final tune-up prior to the Iowa Conference Championships. Luther will travel to the Gustavus Adolphus Spring Invitational this Monday and Tuesday, April 21-22.
Luther is hosting the 2008 Iowa Conference Championships with the first 36-holes being played at Finkbine Golf Course in Iowa City April 25-26. The final 36-holes will be played at the Oneota Golf and Country Club May 2-3.
