Luther finishes 14th at shortened Twin cities classic
Oct. 12, 2009
It was suppose to be a three-day 54-hole tournament, but the Twin Cities Classic, hosted by Gustavus Adolphus College, was reduced to a one-day tournament because of snow and miserable conditions in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area. Saturday's round and Monday's round were called because of snow and freezing cold conditions. The 23-team field did get 18 holes in on Sunday at the Links at North Fork in Ramsey, Minn.
Luther shot a team total of 307 and finished in 14th place. St. John's University won the tournament carding a 289 and was followed by Illinois Wesleyan and Concordia-St. Paul that shot 291 and 293 respectively.
Ross Jacobucci finished in a nine-way tie for first place at two under par 70. The remainder of Head Coach Scott Fjelstul's squad and how they finished included Aaron Smith (T36, 75), Reid Wilson (T66, 78), Ben Kerns (t108, 84) and Chase Forkenbrock (T112, 87). One hundred and 20 golfers played in the 18-hole format.
This was the final tournament for the men's team on their fall schedule. Luther's next action will be March 25-26 when the Norse will travel to Port St. Lucie, Fla., for the Sunshine Open.
