"Playing golf at Luther has been one of the best experiences here at school. I have improved every year thanks to the the guidance of Coach Fjelstul and also because of the hard working culture we have on this team. We work hard because we want to win every tournament that we compete in."

"When I got serious about golf in high school, I knew that I wanted to compete at the college level. As a member of the Luther golf team that goal and dream has come true.

Collegiategolf at Luther has been everything I had hoped for. My teammates and our coach have an unmatched passion for the game, for competition and for Luther College. A commitment to improvement and excellence is something the whole team shares.

Our annual spring break trip to Orlando, Fla., is the best example of the hard work and dedication that exists on this team. We eagerly spend between eight to 10 hours per day practicing and playing, knowing we are getting ready for the spring season, We enjoy those moments when our hard work pays off, especially when the Luther golf team sits atop the leader board.

In addition to improving my golf game, being a Norse golfer has taught me invaluable life lessons. Coach Fjelstul is more than a golf coach, he is a mentor and a role model, who personally helps and advises us in all facets of our lives. I am a better golfer, a better student, and a better person because of my participation on the Luther golf team and the incredible experiences I have had as a Norse golfer."

Being a student-athlete is a large commitment and there are many responsibilities and demands on your time. I have found that this commitment is not intimidating nor should it to be taken for granted.

Playing golf for Coach Fjelstul has helped me understand the opportunity that I have been given. To be a student-athlete, you are held to a high standard academically and athletically. The specific goals that coach has for the team are motivating not only on the golf course but also in the classroom.

It is not unusual to see members of the golf team working out early in the morning during the off-season and practicing till dark while in season. It is this work ethic that has helped me understand what means to be a student-athlete at Luther College. We work hard to represent Luther well to the best of our abilities in every athletic competition and in the surrounding community.
