Luther Soccer Teams Recognized for Academic Excellence

The Luther College men’s and women’s soccer teams have been recognized by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) for academic achievement. Both teams posted a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher, thereby earning the Team Academic Award for the 2006-07 academic year. All members of the active roster are included in a team’s overall grade point average.
A total of 406 soccer teams (111 men and 295 women) earned this award from all levels of the NCAA and NAIA. Luther was one of 71 schools that had both its men’s and women’s teams recognized. The women’s team had an overall GPA of 3.41 and the men’s GPA was 3.18.
A total of six Iowa Conference schools (4 women, 2 men) were honored. The Coe women (3.42 GPA) finished just ahead of the the Luther women (3.41 GPA), followed by Wartburg (3.26 GPA) and Loras (3.25 GPA). The Luther men (3.18 GPA) posted the highest overall team GPA in the IIAC finishing ahead of Coe (3.10 GPA).
