Nov. 9, 2007
Senior defender John Schroeher (White Bear Lake, Minn.) and junior forward Nic Barclay (Apple Valley, Minn.) have been named to the 2007 Iowa Conference all-conference team.
Schroeher, who served as a co-captain, was one of 11 repeat honorees. Schroeher was a first-team selection for the second year in a row. He also was named a second-team selection in 2005 and becomes the eighth player in Luther history to be named to an all-conference team three times. He concluded his career making 78 starts, producing five goals and three assists for 13 points.
In his inaugural season in a Norse uniform, Barclay made an instant impact on Luther's front line. He produced five goals and added four assists for a total of 14 points.
Garnering honorable mention honors was senior goalkeeper Leif Madsen (Verona, Wis./Middleton) and junior defender Stian Iversen (Sandefjord, Norway).
Madsen played in 19 matches producing a goals-against-average of 1.28 that included six shutouts. Iversen joined the Norse for this season from the University of Telemark Norway, where he will return next year to complete his college education.
Luther completed the 2007 campaign with an Iowa Conference record of 5-2, earning the fourth seed of the six-team IIAC Tournament. The Norse advanced to the semifinals before their season came to an end following a loss to regular season and tournament champion Loras College in the semifinals. The Norse tallied an overall record of 9-10-2.
