Luther Rolls Over Bethel - Nelson Records Hat Trick
Sept. 13, 2007
Kyle Nelson scored three goals in the first 22 minutes of play, as Luther rolled to a 5-1 victory over visiting Bethel University this evening. Nelson's goals came at 7:17, 19:52 and 21:54. Nic Barlcay assisted on the first score and Luis Enriquez was credited with an assist on the second.
In the second half, Dane Jensen drove in the fourth goal of the evening assisted by Stian Iverson and Alex Case. Iverson set this score up with a beautiful 40-yard threw ball to the far left corner, where Case collected the pass and crossed the ball to Jensen who was waiting in the box.
Five minutes later, Nic Wrobel knocked in his first collegiate goal off a corner kick by David Keller, seconds after entering the contest on a substitution.
Bethel's lone goal of the night was on a penalty kick at 78:18. Leif Madsen was brilliant in net turning away six shots on goal, including a barrage of three in a row at point blank range early in the first half.
The win was Luther's second in a row and increased its record to 3-2-1. The Norse will resume action on Sunday, Sept. 16 when they will travel to St. Peter, Minn. and play nationally ranked Gustavus Adolphus College. This match will begin at 4:00 p.m.
