Norse Defeat Cobbers 3-0 - Barclay Tallies Three Points

Nic Barclay scored a goal and was credited with an assist, as Luther posted its first win of the season, a 3-0 victory over the Cobbers of Concordia-Moorhead. This match was played on a neutral field on the campus of St. John's University.
Barclay scored the third and final goal of the afternoon and was credited with an assist on Adam Pyzdrowski's game winner 3:15 into the contest. James Laroque drove the second goal into the Cobbers net at 20:34 unassisted. Leif Madsen posted his second shutout of the season rejecting seven shots on goal.
Statistically, Luther out shot Concordia 18-14 and both teams had four corner kicks.
Luther returns to action on Friday, Sept. 7, when it will host Maryville University (MO) in the opening match of the Classic Soccer Tournament. Kick-off will take place at 7:00 p.m.
On Saturday, Maryville will play Augustana (IL) at 4:00 p.m. This match will be followed by Luther playing Augustana on Sunday, at 4:00 p.m. The team that produces the most points based on wins and goals scored will be declared the tournament champion.
