Luther Posts Big Win at Cornell - Larouque and Barclay Score Twice

James Laroque and Nic Barclay scored two goals each. leading a Norse attack that posted an 8-1 victory over Cornell College this afternoon in Mount Vernon. Laroque's goals were his second and third of the season, while Barclay increased his season total to five.

Adam Pyzdrowski also had a big day scoring his third goal of the year and dishing out three assists. Luis Enriquez, D J Mello and Alex Case all scored for the first time this season.

Cornell took a 1-0 lead in the 17th minute, only to watch Luther scored eight unanswered goals, three in the first half and five in the second. The Norse dominated the match placing a total of 16 shots on goal.

Norse goalkeeper Leif Madsen made six saves en route to his fifth win of the season. Madsen has now posted a goals-against-average of 0.98, allowing 13 goals in 1,196 minutes of play.

The win keeps Luther one game out of first place in the IIAC standings behind nationally ranked Loras (5-0). Luther is now 4-1, 7-5-2 overall. Cornell remains winless in the IIAC at 0-5-1, 1-8-1 overall.

Luther returns home for a Monday night contest with Carleton College on Oct. 15. This match will begin under the lights at 7:00 p.m.
