Norse Defeat Storm - Stay One Game Out of First Place

Luther dominated this Iowa Conference contest here in Decorah from start to finish. The Norse out shot the Storm 30-8, placing 17 shots on goal. The result was an impressive 3-0 victory.
Adam Pyzdrowski got the game winner five minutes into the match unassisted. Pyzdrowski knocked the ball into the back of the net on the second rebound that fell loose in the box. James Laroque gave the Norse a 2-0 lead just before half, driving a ball past Simpson goalkeeper Josh Youngman, into the lower left corner of the netting. Luis Enriquez scored the final goal of the evening in the 63rd minutes assisted by Laroque.
Leif Madsen had a busy first half, recording all four of his saves in this period. Madsen's shutout was his fifth of the season.
The win keeps Luther one game out of first place behind Loras (6-0). The Norse are now 5-1 in the IIAC, 8-6-2 overall. Simpson falls to 3-3 in league play, 3-11-1 overall.
The Norse continue IIAC action on Saturday when they will travel to Central College for a 3:00 p.m. match.
