Luther Drops First Conference Match

Wartburg College broke a 0-0 tie in the 73rd minute of this Iowa Conference match on a penalty kick, in what proved to be the game winner. The Knights followed this score with an insurance goal with just 38 seconds left in the match en route to a 2-0 victory over the Norse in Waverly this evening.
Luther goalkeeper Leif Madsen was forced to make nine saves as Wartburg placed 11 shots on goal. On the flip side, Luther tallied just three shots on goal en route to its first conference loss of the season.
The loss drops Luther's IIAC mark to 3-1, 6-5-2 overall. Wartburg moves to 4-1 in the IIAC, 9-2-1 overall.
Luther continues league play on Saturday at Cornell College. This match will start in Mount Vernon at 3:00 p.m.
