Norse Swim Well at Falcon Invite

Facing some of its best competition of the year, Luther swam well at the Falcon Invite hosted by UW-River Falls Nov. 30-Dec. 1. The two-day meet took place at the University of Minnesota Aquatics Center. Ten teams participated in the non-scored meet that included the Norse, Gophers, University of North Dakota, University of South Dakota, Minnesota State-Mankato, UW-La Crosse, University of St. Thomas, St. John's University, Macalester and UW-Eau Claire.
Spencer Robbins and Michael Pettengill posted three of Luther's 11 individual top 10 finishes. Robbins placed 2nd of 34 competitors in the 200 butterfly (1:55.97) and 3rd of 47 swimmers in the 100 butterfly (52.13). Pettengill finished 2nd of 36 in the 100 breaststroke (58.91). He followed this event placing 5th of 30 in the 200 breaststroke (2:12.03).
The 200 freestyle relay comprised of Cameron Webb, Eric Crawford, Taylor Nelson and Ben Skutnik, started the two-day meet with a third place finish posting a time of 1:25.94.
Robbins swam the first leg of the 800 freestyle relay that placed 3rd of 18 teams. Crawford, Webb and Andrew Bross complete this foursome that was clocked at 7:12.18.
Individual top-10 finishes included Bryan Perrott in the 200 IM (7 of 49 - 2:01.72), 100 backstroke (6 of 32 - 55.45) and 200 backstroke (5 of 32 - 1:57.91); Webb in the 200 freestyle (4 of 63 - 1:46.35) and the 100 freestyle (7 of 52 - 48.50); Nelson in the 50 freestyle (10 of 82 - 22.19) and Bross in the 100 butterfly (7 of 47 - 53.98). Norse relay teams also placed fourth in the 400 medley relay and 400 freestyle relay.
