Luther Cruises to Grinnell Invite Title

Entering the final day of the two-day Grinnell Invitational leading by 133 points, the men's swimming and diving team continue its dominance during the second day of competition. The Norse advanced four individuals to the 400 IM finals, five to both the 200 freestyle and the 100 butterfly, and also took the top three places in the 1,650 freestyle, en route to the team title. Luther tallied 853 points finishing well ahead of host Grinnell that was second at 491. Macalester College was third (174), followed by Morningside (153).

Cameron Webb and Andrew Bross both posted two individual first place finishes in the final day of competition. Webb won the 200 freestyle (1:44.91) and the 1,650 freestyle (17:18.69). Bross won the 400 IM (4:27.82) and the 100 fly (53.52).

Alex Eganhouse continued to dive well, capturing the one-meter diving title with 474.10 points. Taylor Nelson won the 50 freestyle touching the wall in (22.23). Michael Pettengill easily won the 100 breaststroke with a time of (59.41).

Luther also won both the 200 medley relay (1:40.93) and finished the meet with an eight second victory in the 400 freestyle relay (3:11.92).

Saturday's Results

Luther will wrap up its home schedule on Saturday, Jan. 26, when it will host Grinnell at 1:00 p.m.
