What the Norse are Saying
"Being a student-athlete on the Luther swimming and diving team, is like being a member of a large extended family. Not only are my teammates members of my family, they are also my best friends.
It is easy to become close to your teammates. You practice together for 15 hours a week, plus spend additional free time together outside of the pool. Being on the team has taught me to improve my time management. If you come back to your room from a hard practice and are dead tired, you need to be able to arrange your schedule to get your homework completed. If not, your grades will suffer. If your grades are poor, you can't compete.
Hawaii was an amazing experience. We practiced extremely hard every day. Watching everyone else push through the pain in practice, just made me work even harder. We have always been a great support system for each other, but Hawaii really brought out the best in all of us. Even though training was the main reason we were in Hawaii, we still had free time to have some fun. We enjoyed making a snowman in the sand, body surfing, and just relaxing in the 80 degree weather of Waikiki."

"Being a member of Luther's swimming and diving team has been an integral part of my college experience. The team has been like a large family from day one. They have always helped and supported me in both the pool and the classroom. As a freshman, this close knit family helped make the transition to college life easier. Since then, being part of the team has continued to help keep me focused on my goals. This team, just like the rest of Luther, understands the balance between academics and extracurricular activities.
Every two years the team takes a training trip during the winter break. This past year we went to Hawaii. Although we work extremely hard during these trips, there is also room for fun. We also get the opportunity to serve people in need through some sort of community service project. In Hawaii, we helped out at a homeless shelter, serving a meal on Christmas day."

"Being a student athlete on the Luther swimming and diving team has greatly enhanced my college experience. Working together towards common and individual goals has helped me realize my true potential both as a student and as an athlete. The resulting sense of accomplishment and teamwork I have gained through this experience has been invaluable."
