Luther Defeats Loras 8-1

Luther wrapped up its three-match trip to Dubuque, Iowa with an 8-1 victory over Loras College this afternoon. The Norse swept doubles play and won five singles matches in straight sets en route to the victory.
Joe LaFountaine at #5 and Tyler Van Heest posted 6-0, 6-0 victories in singles action. Scott Martin at #3 was victorious 6-3, 6-0, while Tyler Zinnecker at #4 won 6-2, 6-1. Aaron Gendron posted a 7-6 (3), 6-3 win at #1.
The win keeps Luther undefeated in Iowa Conference action. The Norse are now 7-0, 24-4. The Norse are now six wins shy of tying the school record they set last year for wins in a single season of 30.
Head Coach Brian Huinker will split his squad for a busy weekend this Friday and Saturday, April 10-11. At home, the Norse will play Wartburg at 9:00 a.m. and the University of St. Thomas at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. The rest of the team will be in Texas playing the University of Texas-Dallas on Friday at 4:00 p.m. On Saturday, the Norse will play Hardin Simmons at 10:30 a.m. and McMurray at 3:30 p.m. in Abilene, Texas.
