Luther Wins Regional Clash in Orlando with UW-whitewater 5-4

In an epic battle between two regionally ranked teams, #12 Luther secured its 18th win of the year after posting a 5-4 come-from-behind victory over #9 UW-Whitewater this afternoon in Orlando, Florida.

Whitewataer jumped out to a 3-0 start sweeping doubles play. #11 ranked Kelvin Caiati and Alex Lowe defeated Thomas Orser and Harrison Whiteley 8-4 at #1. Max Piepkorn and Utsab Rijal were defeated 9-7 at #2, while Mark Mateski and Scott Sundstrom lost 8-2 at #3.

In singles action, the Norse posted three three set victories, after dropping the first set of all three matches. Sundstrom, ranked #20 in the region, defeated #19 Lowe 6-7, 7-6, 6-2. Orser posted a 2-6, 7-6, 6-4 victory at #3, and Mateski recorded a 2-6, 6-3, 7-5 victory at #5. Whiteley also won a three-set match 6-3, 4-6, 7-5 at #2. Rijal won in straight sets 7-5, 6-1.
