Norse Defeat Knights - Remain Undefeated in League Play

Luther posted a 6-3 victory over Wartburg College in the first of two games that will be played here in Decorah today. The Norse won two of three doubles matches and four of six singles matches en route to the victory. Luther remains undefeated in the Iowa Conference with a record of 8-0, 25-4 overall. The loss was the first for the Knights in league play and they are now 3-1, 10-7.
Samriddh Burman and Nate Jung at #2 doubles and Joe LaFountaine and Tyler Van Heest at #3, gave the Norse the all important lead after doubles play. Burman and Jung were victorious 8-3, while LaFountaine Van Heest won 8-0.
In singles action, Scott Martin at #4 won a hard fought three-set match 6-2, 1-6, 10-3. Max Piepkorn at #2, Van Heest at #5 and LaFountaine at #6 all won in straight sets.
The Norse will resume action later this afternoon when they will face the University of St. Thomas at 3:00 p.m. The rest of the team is in Dallas, Texas and will play the University of Texas-Dallas at 4:00 p.m. this afternoon.
