Luther Finishes 6th at NWCA/Cliff Keen National Duals

Luther wrapped up the two-day, 16-team NWCA/Cliff Keen National Duals with a sixth place finish. The Norse were defeated by Heidelberg College 25-14 in the fifth place match.
Luther opened the tournament with an impressive 30-10 victory over Ohio Northern. The Norse posted wins in seven of 10 matches including falls by Jason Pyle (149), A J Gregg (174) and Alec Bonander (197).
In the quarterfinals, Delaware Valley defeated Luther 27-9. Luther's three victories in this match were recorded by Kevin Bokoski (133), A J Gregg (174) and Alec Bonander (197).
The loss dropped Luther into the consolation bracket where it posted a 39-7 victory over Concordia-Moorhead advancing to the third round of this bracket. Lee Meirick (125) recorded a technical fall, while Zach Bartlett (133), Jason Pyle (149), A J Gregg (174) and Allyn Plattner (285) all recorded falls.
The Norse continued their trek to the fifth place match defeating Johnson & Wales 34-9. Meirick (125), Grawin (141) and Plattner (285) recorded falls, while Pyle (149) won by major decision.
In the fifth place match, A J Gregg (174) posted a 15-0 tech fall and Bonander (197) won by decision 5-1. Plattner (285) recorded six points for the Norse winning by forfeit.
The Norse completed the tournament with a record of 3-2, increasing their overall record to 9-3. Their next competition will be a dual at Wartburg College on Saturday, Jan. 19. This Iowa Conference match will begin at 7:00 p.m.
