Luther Swimming & Diving Teams Raise $2300 for "Hour of Power" Relay

On Tuesday, Nov. 6, the Luther College swimming and diving teams joined 40 collegiate teams from across the nation and participated in the "Hour of Power" Relay. The relay was designed to raise funds for the research of sarcoma, a rare soft-tissue cancer, and was in honor of Carleton College swimmer Ted Mullin, who passed away in the fall of 2006 of this disease.
All funds raised during this event will support research to find the cause and a cure for this deadly disease at the University of Chicago.
The "Hour of Power" Relay was a one-hour continuous relay. Because of the generous contributions of family and friends, the Luther men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams raised $2300.
"Our team would like to thank all the parents and friends who donated money for the Ted Mullin’s cancer research fund, “ commented Head Coach Lance Huber. “The team had a great time during this event, swimming fast while bringing awareness to the Luther community of not only sarcoma, but also all forms of cancers. This will definitely be a yearly endeavor for our squad. We hope to have over 10,000 swimmers participating nation wide next season. We also want to send a big thanks to those at Carleton College for inviting us to be a part of this “Hour of Power” in remembrance of Tim."
