Norse Post First Win of the Season - Defeat Kenyon 66-45

Luther posted its first win of the season defeating Kenyon College (2-3) 66-45 this afternoon in the third place game of the McWilliams Tournament hosted by Washington University.

The Norse jumped out to a 35-27 halftime lead and never looked back, outscoring Kenyon 31-18 in the second half en route to the victory. Luther shot 54.2% in the second period while holding Kenyon to just 21.4% from the field. The Norse also forced Kenyon into 31 turnovers and won the battle of the boards 41-34.

Blair Ernst led a trio of double digit scorers with 16 points. Jill Eicher tallied 14 points and Camille Stenhaug chipped in 11. Ashley TeKippe led the team with eight rebounds followed by Ernst with seven. Jackie Miller was credited with five assists and Danille Dunnwald produced five steals.

Ernst, who tallied 33 points during the two-day tournament, was named to the six-palyer all-tournament team.

In the championship game, host Washington University defeated Carleton College 58-51.

Luther will begin Iowa Conference play this Wednesday night at home against Cornell College. Tip-off will take place at 6:00 p.m. in the Regents Center.
