Norse Defeated in IIAC Semifinal in Overtime

The basketball season came to an for the women's basketball team this evening here in the Regents Center, as #3 seed Coe College defeated #2 Luther 66-58 in overtime, in a semifinal game of the Iowa Conference Tournament.
Trailing 38-26 at halftime, Luther battled back in the second frame, outscoring Coe 17-4 in the first 12 minutes, tying the score 44-44 with 8:20 left on the clock. The teams traded buckets during the next five minutes of action and Coe held a slim four-point lead (52-48), with a little over three minutes left on the clock. Luther tied the game (52-52) for a fourth time, thanks to an Ashley TeKippe jumper and two crucial free throws by Amanda Dahlseng that proved to be the final points of the half.
The Norse had two great opportunities to take the lead and secure the victory in the final 24 seconds, but missed two free throws and a short jumper on the baseline as time expired.
In the extra five minutes of play it was all Coe. The Kohawks made 10 of 12 free throws and outscored the Norse 14-6 en route to the victory.
Seniors Ashley TeKippe and Danielle Dunnwald completed their stellar careers posting double-doubles. TeKippe tallied 21 points and grabbed 15 rebounds, both game highs. Dunnwald was credited with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Dahlseng was the third leading scorer with nine points.
A balanced Kohawks attack was led by Brittany Norris with 12 points, while Amber Karkosh, Erin Jones and Kayla Lincoln all chipped in 10.
The victory sent Coe (20-7) to the Iowa Conference Tournament championship game for the first time in school history. The Kohawks will travel to #1 seed and regular season champion Simpson (24-2) on Saturday. The Storm advanced to the title tilt with a 93-67 victory over the University of Dubuque this evening.
Luther completes it season with an overall record of 15-10.
