An eight-point run by Simpson in the final two minutes of the first half proved to be the difference in this Iowa Conference clash as #12 Simpson College defeated the Luther 70-60 in Indianola. Luther tied the score 33-33 thanks to a Blair Ernst jumper with 2:37 remaining, only to see Simpson end the half with a 41-33 halftime advantage.

Both teams shot 39% from the field, but Simpson made seven more free throws and one more three-point basket than the Norse. Simpson also outscored the Norse 40-24 in the paint.

Jill Eicher and Amanda Dahlseng led the Norse offensive attack that saw eight different players score. Eicher tallied 16 points and Dahlseng chipped in 14. Danielle Dunnwald just missed double digits with nine. Ashley TeKippe led the team with 10 rebounds and five blocked shots.

Simpson was led by the duo of Katelyn Whiton and Whitney Franker. Whiton posted a double-double producing game highs with 19 points and 12 rebounds. Franker tallied 15 points and was followed by Carrie Larson with nine.

Box Score

The loss gives Luther an Iowa Conference record of 1-1, 2-3 overall. Simpson moves to 2-0 in the IIAC, 6-1 overall.

The Norse will return to action on Saturday, Dec. 8, when they will host non-conference opponent St. Ambrose University. Tip-off will take place in the Regents Center at 3:00 p.m.
