League leading simpson defeats luther 74-58 in indianola

League leading Simpson College outscored Luther 37-29 in both halves en route to a 74-58 victory over the Norse this evening in Indianola. The Storm shot 44 percent from the field and produced 25 points off of Luther turnovers. It also won the battle of the boards 43-37.

Camille Stenhaug and Bethany Van Sloten led the Norse offensive attack with nine points each. Sam McCamy and Sam Jewell were next with eight each. Jewell dished out seven assists matching her career high, while Van Sloten and Michelle Voigts both collected a team high seven rebounds.

Simpson had 12 different players score and was led by the trio of Amy Hamilton, Katie Kitzman and Stacey Schutjer. Hamilton led all scorers with 19 points. Kitzman and Schutjer produced 15 and 13 respectively.

The loss drops Luther's Iowa Conference record to 2-9, 7-13 overall. Simpson moves to 11-1 in league play, 18-3 overall.

The Norse will return to action this Saturday, Feb. 6, when they will host the Dutch of Central College at 2:00 p.m. This will be Luther's annual Pink Zone game for the awareness of breast cancer. All of the action will be video streamed .
