What the Norse are Saying
"I wanted to attend a small college and was looking for an opportunity to play basketball, and Luther provided me with that opportunity. Luther is also just the right distance from home, and has an absolutely gorgeous campus and the facilities are outstanding.
Playing basketball for Luther has been such a memorable experience. It has provided me with many opportunities that I will never again be able to experience.
The members of the team have become my second family and some of my best friends. If I am struggling in basketball, school, or I just want someone to talk too. I know my teammates will always be there to lend support.
Members of the Luther administration, faculty and staff, as well as members of the local community are very supportive. It is wonderful having professors ask you about a game in class, or a complete stranger from the community come up and congratulate you on a job well done.
Not only has basketball created new bonds, but it has also given me opportunities to play and experience the cultures of Austria, Switzerland, and Germany. This trip as well as our trip to California this Christmas, will always be lifelong memories."

"Nothing can be achieved without passion. Its what pushes you day in and day out to achieve the things you want to be successful at, This is why I chose Luther College. It drips passion, from its athletic following, to its academic esteem, to the friendships created during your time here. I came here knowing that every time I stepped on the court I would be surrounded with teammates that shared the same love for the game, the experience of athletic competition, and each other. Luther isn't just an experience, its an identity, a love, a zeal, that no one who ever Bleeds Blue will forget."

"Participating in basketball and becoming a student-athlete has been one of my best decisions yet at Luther. Through the dedication of the coaches and professors the stress of the “student” is just as great as the “athlete” in student-athlete. I originally chose to attend Luther based on the excellent biology program and it’s record with students attending medical school, while the ability to be a part of the women's basketball program as a bonus. I knew playing basketball was the right choice during the first week of school when I met my teammates at a team picnic. Everyone felt like family and I instantly had 20 friends on campus.
Over the past three years, these teammates have become members of my family and are also my best friends. Not only do we spend hours together on the court, but countless hours together off the court during our free time. In addition, being a member of the basketball team has allowed me to travel to places I wouldn’t normally have had the opportunity to see. Every four years the team travels overseas to experience a different culture, play and form bonds between teammates. Two summers ago we traveled to Germany, Austria and Switzerland for 10 days. These 10 days helped build the foundation from which we developed teamwork and lifetime friendships.
Luther College, through both academics and athletics, has given me the opportunity to purse higher education and reach my career goals."
