Norse 9th at Roy Griak - Dobyns Finishes Third

Luther placed ninth at the 22nd Annual Roy Griak Invitational hosted by the University of Minnesota. Forty-two teams that included nine ranked in the top-35 in the NCAA III squared off on the Les Bolstad Golf Course.
2006 All-American Janet Dobyns led the Norse with a third place finish. Dobyns crossed the finish line with a time of 22:33.9, trailing only Becca Jordahl (UW-River Falls) and Marie Borner (Bethel University) who finished one-two. Jordahl captured her individual title with a time of 22:01, while Borner was clocked at 22:31. These three led the field that included 567 runners.
Entering this race ranked #4 in the nation, Luther posted a point total of 330. Flannery Corbin (50th - 24:24), Elise Bennett (84th - 24:50), Katie Dolan (94th - 24:57), and Heidi Skildum (99th - 25:01) joined Dobyns as point producers. Devin Parker (111th - 25:11) and Anna Wikan (132nd - 25:28) also ran well completing associate head coach Yarrow Pasche's squad of seven runners.
Washington University, ranked #3 in the country, won the team title with 89 points. #16 UW-Platteville was second at 117, followed by #9 UW-La Crosse with 128. All but two of the teams that finished ahead of the Norse were ranked in the top 24.
The Norse will be off until Oct. 13, when they will travel to the UW-La Crosse Invitational.
