Luther finishes 8th at Roy Griak Invitational

The Luther College cross country team placed 8th from a field of 37 teams in the Maroon Division III race at the prestigious 24th Annual Roy Griak Invitational. The University of Minnesota hosted today's events on the Les Bolstad Golf Course in Falcon Heights, Minn.
The top nine teams to cross the finish line were all nationally ranked. UW-La Crosse, ranked #9 in the country, took the team title with 98 points. The Eagles were followed by #16 UW-Oshkosh with 112, #12 UW-Eau Claire with 117 and #10 Bethel University with 136. #25 Luther finished with a team total of 266.
Annie McKay led Luther’s top five with a 44th place finish in a time of 24:05. She was followed closely by Katie Dolan (47th, 24:08.8), Kim Horner (48th, 24:09), Melissa Erickson (57th, 24:18.6), and Anna Wikan (70th, 24:26.3). Sharon Heyer (84th, 24:40.6) and Sarah Lundine (85th, 24:42.1) rounded out the top seven.
The Norse will return to action on Oct. 2 when they will travel to the UW-Eau Claire Blugold Invitational. Race time is scheduled for 4 p.m.
