Luhter finishes second at Iowa Conference Championships
Oct. 31, 2009
The Luther College cross country team ran well at Iowa Conference Championships hosted by Wartburg College, but came up a bit short in its hunt for a 12th league title. The Norse placed second in the field of nine teams for the second consecutive year, posting a point total of 56. Wartburg College won the team title with 39 points. Central College tallied 73 and Simpson College was fourth with 87.
Four Norse earned all-conference honors by finishing in the top-15 individually. Katie Dolan became a two-time all-conference performer finishing in fifth place with a time of 23:16. Dolan was followed by Sarah Lundine (6th, 23:20), Kim Horner (13th, 23:51), and Melissa Erickson (15th, 23:55), who all earned all-conference honors for the first time of their careers.
Chelsea Lynch (17th, 24:02). Leah Jensen (18th, 24:03) and Julia Schiefelbein (20th, 24:08) rounded out Luther’s top seven.
The Norse will return to action on Saturday, Nov. 14, when they travel to Grinnell College for the NCAA III Central Regional.
