Oct. 6, 2007
Luther posted its highest finish at the Iowa Conference championships since 1998, finishing third after 72-holes of play.
The first 36-holes was played at Pheasant Ridge, Cedar Falls on Sept. 28-29. This weekend the league played at the Meadows Golf Course, Asbury, Iowa.
The Norse entered the final weekend in fourth place behind Simpson College and shot rounds of 342 and 362 en route to a four-round total of 1381. Simpson finished two strokes behind the Norse at 1383. Wartburg College won the team title carding a 1327, while Loras College was a solid second at 1339.
Emily Looft (South Lake, Texas/Carroll) and Lindsay Thies (Owatonna, Minn.) earned all-conference honors by finishing in the top-10 individually. A scorecard tie-breaker gave Looft (81-89-83-82—335) fifth place, as she finished in a tie with Wartburg’s Kate Thompson (78-82-86-89—335). Thies was one stroke back (83-82-80-91-336) and finished alone in seventh place. Looft's all-conference honor was the first of her career, while Thies also earned this award in 2005.
The remainder of Head Coach Dave Lester's squad and where they finished included Amy Ekland (11th, 80-83-85-93-341), Jenessa Bonikowske (28th, 89-93-95-96-373), and Ellen Miller (29th, 94-90-94-101-379).
