Norse Drop Hard Fought 3-2 Decision to Cornell

Cornell's Katie Ward scored with a little over three minutes remaining, securing a 3-2 victory for the Rams over the Norse in Mount Vernon this afternoon.
Lisa Torgerson led the Norse offensive attack producing a goal and one assist. She tied the game (1-1) in the 30th minute on a direct kick and then assisted on Kelsey Balk's eighth goal of the year in the 35th minute.
Hannah Wright started in goal for the Norse and was replaced in the 35th minute after allowing two goals. Christina Soward finished the game and gave up the game winner in the 87th minute.
The Norse out shot the Rams in this contest 10-6 and tallied seven corner kicks to the Rams four. Both teams had four shots on goal.
The loss drops Luther's IIAC record to 3-2, 6-8 overall. Cornell moved to 5-1 in league play, 7-3-1 overall.
Luther returns to action on Monday, Oct. 15, when it will host Carleton College for a 5:00 p.m. match.
