Luther Defeats Dubuque - Balk Scores Twice

Luther increased its Iowa Conference record to 2-0 posting an impressive 3-0 victory over the University of Dubuque here in Decorah this evening. The win was the third in a row for the Norse and raised their overall record to 5-6. Dubuque fell to 1-1-1 in the IIAC, 8-2-2 overall.
Kelsey Balk scored her sixth and seventh goals of the season, including the game winner, just two minutes into the contest. Balk was assisted on her first goal by Lisa Torgerson and Ashley Meirick. Balk knocked in an unassisted goal at 26:49, giving the Norse a comfortable 2-0 lead at halftime. Torgerson scored the final goal of the evening on a penalty kick at 66:37.
Goalkeeper Hannah Wright posted her first collegiate shutout facing just one shot on goal. The Norse out shot the Spartans 29-4 and pepper the nets with 13 shots on goal.
Luther continues Iowa Conference play this Saturday when it will host Coe College at 3:00 p.m.
