Luther Posts First Win of the Season - Defeats St. Oalf 4-1

Emily Ironside scored two goals and Kendra Dornfeld was credited with two assists as Luther defeated St. Olaf 4-1 in Northfield this afternoon. The victory was the first for the Norse this season and increased their record to 1-2.
Ashley Meirick scored the opening goal at 7:40 assisted by Dornfeld. At 33:25, Ironside scored what proved to be the game winner, followed by Kelsey Balk's second goal of the season at 61:36. Ironside completed the scoring with her second goal at 70:01.
St. Olaf scored its lone goal at 79:36, taking away Christina Soward's opportunity for a shutout. Soward was making her first start of the season and was credited with four saves en route to the victory.
The Norse will return to action when they will host Maryville University (MO) on Friday, Sept. 7 at 5:00 p.m. This will be the first match of the three-day Classic Soccer Tournament.
