Norse Sweep Beavers - Magner Sets School Record for Career RBI

Luther increased its Iowa Conference record to 7-3 after sweeping the Beavers of Buena Vista University here in Decorah this afternoon. The Norse scored seven runs on nine hits en route to a 7-5 victory in game one, and tallied 10 runs on eight hits defeating the Beavers 10-2 in six innings in the nightcap.
In game one, Kelsey Hake and Ashley Hoffman both drove in two runs. Hake was 2-for-4 and scored twice while Hoffman was 1-for-3. Trailing 2-0 after one, the Norse tied the game in the bottom of the second, thanks to back-to-back home runs by Tiffany Kruse (5) and Danielle Armbruster (1).
In game two, Luther exploded for four runs in the fourth, three in the fifth and two in the sixth. Tami Magner set the school record for career rbi with a two-run single to right field in the fourth. Magner entered the ball game with 124, one shy of the record held by Lisa Huinker (125) established last season. With one rbi in the first game and two in the second, Magner's career total now stands at 128.
Kayla Denner, who scored three times, was 1-for-2. Denner's lone hit was a two-run home run over the left field fence in the fifth.
BreAnn VanDeer had another solid outing in the circle. She threw a four-hit complete game victory, striking out seven and walking just one. She also picked up the save in game one.
The Norse will return to action on Tuesday, April 15, when they will travel to Bethany Lutheran located in Mankato, Minn. This non-conference twin bill will begin at 3:00 p.m.
The Norse return home on Wednesday, April 16, to host Loras College. This conference double header will begin at 3:00 p.m.
