Luther Third at Gustavus Triangular

Luther picked up five first place finishes at the Gustavus Triangular held Nov. 17. The Norse posted a team total of 764 points, finishing behind Gustavus with 1,289 and St. Ben's with 891.
Elissa Schmidt led the Norse with two individual gold medal performances and also swam the first leg of the first place 400 freestyle relay. Schmidt won the 200 freestyle posting a meet record time of 1:58.54. She went on to capture first in the 100 freestyle (55.48) and third in the 50 freestyle (25.86). Valerie Hoops, Addison Choi and Rachel Bruns teamed with Schmidt en route to a meet record in the 400 freestyle relay (3:44.88).
Elise DesRoches and Kristin Trudell also claimed first place finishes. DesRoches won the one-meter diving (189.45), while Trudell won the 200 fly (2:18.79).
Second place finishes were recorded by Lauren Rauchwarter in the 100 backstroke (1:05.23); Rachel Bruns in both the 50 freestyle (25.67) and 100 freestyle (56.55); Sara Kessler in the 200 backstroke (2:20.10); and Kari Kolsrud in the 200 IM (2:20.76).
The Norse return to action Nov. 30-Dec. 1, when they will travel to the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center for the Falcon Invite hosted by UW-River Falls.
