Luther Finishes National Championships in 11th Place

Following All-America performances by Elissa Schmidt and the 400 freestyle relay, Luther completed the 2008 NCAA Division III National Swimming and Diving Championships in 11th place, posting a team total of 100 points.

Elissa Schmidt wrapped up her individual career with a seventh place finish in the 100 freestyle, touching the wall in 51.84. Her seventh place finish also secured her second individual All-America honor of the three-day meet. Kendra Stern (Amherst) won the national title with a time of 49.78. Schmidt qualified for the 100 freestyle finals with the eighth fastest time of the preliminary heats clocked at 51.84.

The 400 freestyle relay team also earned All-America honors. Schmidt, Valerie Hoops, Addison Choi and Rachel Bruns, placed eighth with a time of 3:31.36. Twenty-two schools participated in this event.
