Norse Finish Second at St. Mary's Invite

Luther finished second of four teams at the St. Mary's University Invitational held Jan. 12. The Norse posted a point total of 849.5 points, finishing well behind first place Carleton College that tallied 1,034.5 points. St. Mary's was a distant third at 289 and Augsburg College finished the meet with 147 points.
Katharyn Sundry posted two first place finishes. She won the 1,000 freestyle by 10 seconds clocked at 11:32.32. She also led a sweep by the Norse in the 500 freestyle with a first place finish of 5:34.94. She was followed in this event by Amy Schneider (5:35.88) and Valerie Hoops (5:43.88).
Elissa Schmidt brought home three first place finishes and also set two pool records. She touched the wall first in the 200 freestyle (1:57.44) and 100 freestyle (54.43) setting pool records in the process. She completed her day with a first place finish in the 100 butterfly (1:02.56).
Elise DesRoches continued to dive well, winning both the one-meter (198.80) and three-meter (212.95) diving competitions.
The Norse will return to action Jan. 18-19 when they will travel to the Grinnell Invitational.
