Luther drops first dual meet of the season to St. Cloud STate

Luther lost its first dual meet of the season by a score of 160-62 to NCAA II St. Cloud State University this afternoon here in the Regents Center pool.

The Huskies, who finished eighth at last year's NCAA II National Championships, captured the top two spots in every race except three en route to the victory.

Addison Choi and Rachel Bruns posted second place finishes in the 200 freestyle and 100 freestyle respectively. Choi was clocked at 2:00.04, while Bruns posted a time of 55.37.

Elise DesRoches posted Luther's only first place finish in one meter diving, six dives optional. DesRoches posted a point total of 245.85, edging Cassi Mrozek who tallied a point total of 244.89.

The 200 freestyle relay squad of Bruns, Choi, Bethany Nicoll and Sara Kessler officially finished first (1:42.42) , but were actually second in the water, because the Huskies foursome time (1:39.91) did not count towards the team total.

The loss drops Luther's dual meet record to 2-1. The Norse will return to action on Saturday, Nov. 14, when they will host UW-Whitewater at 1:00 p.m.
