Luther Finishes Third at IIAC Championships - Jess Jewell Claims Shot Put Title

The women's track and field team finished the two-day Iowa Conference Indoor Championships in third place. The Norse tallied a total of 83 points and trailed conference champion Wartburg (259) and Simpson (110.33).

Jess Jewell, started the day claiming her first indoor conference championship in the shot put. Jewell posted a winning mark of 44-6 1/4 en route to her third all-conference honor in as many years. Madison Craw of Cornell was second with a distance of 42-2 3/4.

Last weekend, Jewell set the school record in this event with a throw of 45-11 1/2, which is also an automatic qualifying distance for the NCAA Division III National Track and Field Championships.

4 x 800 Relay

The 4 x 800 relay team also earned all-conference honors this afternoon. Lisa Savre, Sarah Lundine, Annie McKay and Rachel Wiesenberg placed third with a time of 9:49.05.
