Luther Drops Five Game Match to Buena Vista

The Norse let one get away this evening, losing to Buena Vista University 3-2 here in the Regents Center. After winning the first two games 30-27, 32-30, the Norse looked like they were going to finish this IIAC match in three games, leading at the midway point of game three. The Beavers battled back and went on to post winning scores of 30-28, 30-16 and 15-13 en route to the come-from-behind victory.
Leah Sikora, Abby Lahr and Tiffany Kruse all posted double digits in kills for the Norse. Sikora tallied a match high 25, while Lahr added 22 and Kruse 12. Molly Morrissey and Heather Hoffman dished out 34 and 30 assists respectively. Ally Czechowicz led the squad with three solo blocks and four block assists.
Buena Vista's Katie Vondrak took over in the final three games of this match. She posted three solo blocks and was also credited with four block assists and almost single handedly disrupted the Norse offensive attack. She also post a team high 22 kills. Kelli Luitjens (15) and McKenzie Moore (11) were next in this category. Setter Molly Reuter dished out 60 assists.
The loss drops Luther's Iowa Conference record to 2-4, 13-10 overall. Buena Vista picked up its first league win of the season and is now 1-5, 5-17 overall.
Luther's next match will be at home on Monday, Oct. 15, when it will host Viterbo University at 7:30 p.m.
