Luther Defeats Loras 3-1

Luther took another step in the right direction in its quest to make the six-team Iowa Conference tournament, by posting a 3-1 decision over Loras College here in the Regents Center this evening.
The Norse jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead after defeating the Duhawks 30-23 in game one. Loras responded with a 30-19 victory in game two, only to see Luther post wins of 30-24 and 30-26 in the final two contests to secure the victory.
Abby Lahr and Leah Sikora paced a Norse attack that recorded 41 kills. Lahr was credited with 14 and Sikora 13, while Lauren Boleen was next with seven. Molly Morrissey dished out 22 assists and Heather Hoffman added 12. Grayce Hamlin led the team with 29 digs, followed closely by Sikora with 26 and Lahr with 21. Six different players tallied an ace serve.
Loras was led by Jenna Kollasch who tallied a match high 18 kills. Katharine Connolly and Julianne Lord complete the top three in this category with nine and eight respectively.
The win increased Luther's Iowa Conference record to 2-3, 11-7 overall. Loras fell to 0-4 in the IIAC, 10-11 overall.
Luther travels to Augustana-Rock Island this weekend for a two-day tournament. The Norse will begin play at 2:00 p.m. on Friday against North Central College. At 6:00 p.m. Luther will wrap up day one with a match against host Augustana.
