Luther rolls to 3-0 victory over coe in Cedar Rapids

The Luther College volleyball team posted its sixth consecutive victory after defeating Coe College 3-0 this evening in Cedar Rapids. The Norse rolled to set victories of 25-19, 25-13 and 25-13.

Emily Cory, who was named the Iowa Conference Athlete of the Week yesterday, paced the squad with 10 kills. She was followed by Tiffany Kruse and Taylor Skoglund who were both credited with six. Felicia Bridgers was next with five kills. Bridgers also led the team with five solo blocks and two block assists.

Taylor Hjerleid dished out 22 assists while Grayce Hamlin, Kruse and Lindsey Weaver were credited with 11, 11 and 10 digs respectively.

The win increased Luther's Iowa Conference record to 5-2, 23-10 overall. The 23 wins marks the first time the Norse have posted this many wins in a single season since 1995. The win also secured a spot in the six-team Iowa Conference Tournament that will take place Nov. 6-7 at Simpson College. The Storm defeated Wartburg College this evening 3-2 in Waverly to claim the regular season title. Coe falls to 1-6 in the IIAC, 8-23 overall.

The Norse will return to action this Thursday, Oct. 29 when they will host Waldorf College at 7:30 p.m. This match will be video streamed starting at 7:20 p.m.
