Luther defeated in five sets by wartburg in iiac semifinals

The Luther College volleyball team's regular season came to an end this evening after Wartburg College defeated the Norse in five sets in the semifinals of the Iowa Conference Tournament. Simpson College is hosting the six-team, two-day tournament Nov. 6-7.
In a match that took nearly two hours, Luther jumped out to a 2-0 lead, posting set victories of 25-22, 25-19, but dropped the next three sets by scores of 25-27, 22-25 and 6-15.
First-team all-Iowa Conference selection Emily Cory led the Norse offensive attack with 15 kills. She was followed by second-team all-conference honoree Taylor Skoglund with 14 and Tiffany Kruse with 12. Felicia Bridgers, who tallied a team high four block solos, just missed double digits with nine kills.
Five players posted double digit totals for digs. Taylor Hjerleid, who dished out 45 assists, was credited with 23. She was followed by Leah Ehret with 22, Kruse with 19, Grayce Hamlin with 12 and Lindsey Weaver with 11.
The loss snapped an eight-match win streak and gives the Norse an overall record of 25-11, their best record since 1993.
